Giving back to the community

Recently, MI Transport was able to support the local community by helping to transport donated theatre seating for a youth theatre charity.

Silhouette Youth Theatre had fifteen rows of nine seats donated by the Royal Shakespeare Company a while back, and poised with transport and load at the ready, our enthusiastic team was quick to get stuck in and move them from storage into the theatre’s new space.

“I called a few companies to see if they could help, and it was MI Transport who offered to bring them here for us” said Leigh Wolmarans, CEO and Artistic Director of Silhouette.

“They were amazing. The MI Transport team, with help from the Shurgard Self Storage at Riverside at one end, and some of our neighbours from Lok’nStore and Clip and Climb in the centre, pitched in to help bring the seats over here and unload them.”

The charity was founded by former headteacher Leigh to provide children access to the arts, and the chance to explore drama, music and dance, regardless of family background or socio-economic status.

Julie Knowles, MI Transport’s HGV Supervisor said: “Most of our staff live locally, have children going to school locally, and as a company MI Transport is keen to do as much as it can to help within the community, wherever it can.”
