Which Delivery Vehicle Should You Use?

The type of transport vehicle you need will depend on the goods you need to deliver. There’s a wide range of UK truck sizes and choosing the appropriate one can reduce delivery time and carbon output while being more cost effective.

Ecommerce shipping options

We offer a small van, short wheel base van for your smaller orders, long wheel base van, and a Luton box van for the larger orders up to 1000kg.

To transport things that are very large or if you have many individual deliveries, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) is the best option. A delivery lorry from us can carry up to 26000kg and store 26 standard pallets.

Certain goods may need specialised vehicles instead of a standard van or HGV vehicle. Some food products, medicines, and flowers need to be kept at a consistent temperature. For these deliveries, a refrigerated vehicle is necessary. Temperature-controlled vehicles help to keep goods fresh and safe.

Ensure you choose a vehicle which will fit your goods. Check the size and weight limits carefully, and if you are unsure, go with the larger vehicle. This means you can easily pack all of your goods and can reduce the risk of delays, missed deliveries, or breakage.

Additional delivery options

Alongside choosing an appropriate delivery vehicle, certain delivery services may help with transportation. To transport furniture and other large items, a two-man delivery service is often useful.

As well as a temperature-controlled vehicle, hiring a medical courier can ensure medications are delivered safely to the recipient.

While you can drive vans with a standard UK Driver’s Licence, to drive an HGV you will require an HGV Licence. This means you should ensure you are hiring a driver with the vehicle.

At MI Transport, we have a range of delivery vehicles to suit your needs. For more information, call 01604 499330 or email warren.boxford@mitransportltd.co.uk.
